Finally, Netflix is allowing Mac users to “Watch Instantly” movies from their site. They’re doing so through Silverlight, *yuck* Microsoft’s alternative to Adobe Flash, But, so far, it actually performs quite well on my Intel MBP in Firefox 3. If you have a Netflix account, simply visit the Silverlight beta page, opt in to test the beta and pick a movie to watch instantly. You’ll be prompted to download the Silverlight app to your desktop and install it. After you’ve installed the app you are set to go.
Check it out if you’re into watching movies online or streaming them to your home theater. Now if I could just get it to work as a Fluid app like Hulu does.

1Thanks for the heads up… I just went back to netflix this month and was very bummed to not take advantage of the “watch instantly” feature

2You can get fluid to work if you change the useragent. Go to the menu netflix>useragent>Safari 3.1.2. Also, setting the display preferences to HUD and float makes everything look nicer. Enjoy
