“The method has changed, but the message stays the same.” How many times have you heard that line? I haven’t heard it nearly as much as I’ve recited it, being the way we bring the Message over at XXXchurch. It excites me to see the Message presented in relevant ways to today’s culture, I feel it’s a serious responsibility.

Enter: The Bible Illuminated from Illuminated World, a Swedish design team led by adman Dag Soderberg. The team behind the B.I. sent us both volumes – New Testament and Old Testament of “The Illuminated Bible: The Book”, all in Swedish of course and quite striking to say the least. A glossy, graphic novel-esque version of the Bible complete with sidebars, coverlines, and subheads. Check out a preview of the Book here » http://www.illuminatedworld.com/

An English version is available online for sale later this fall.

My my, this is inspiring…Twenty-Six Types of Animals.

These ads for the new Levi’s Eco Jean are killer! I’m curious about the denim, does it feel green? does it smell green?

UPDATE: heartsupport placed 1st at the AIGA cause/affect competition in the Health category. Pics to come.

The design for heartsupport.com has placed in the AIGA cause/affect competition, AIGA, being the professional association for design. I’ll be attending the ceremony Dec. 4th in San Francisco to accept the award and further spread the word about heartsupport to the design community. Here’s a little snippet about the cause/affect competition: Read the rest of this page »

This is how I work when I’m at home, it’s the spot to get things done. I have a sweet setup at the difted space, but when I’m working from home, I’m here. It’s a little reminiscent of my old space back in Oklahoma. I’ve spent the past 3 weeks in “the hole” and it’s been highly productive. Anyone else have an alternative getaway spot or hole to work in?

The heartsupport launch party was a success, a great turnout at the new Red Ball Jet Cafe’ here in GR with alot of people leaving excited about the ministry. I’m so exhausted though, in the past two weeks I have spent nearly every waking hour working on heartsupport. The website, the merch, the prints and editing the animations for the films. I didn’t do it alone though, my pal Sammyk from Kentucky nailed out the backend and my pal Sam Sanchez filmed and edited the videos, our interns even helped out with last minute additions to the graphics on the site. All in all a great team effort…our first BIG project at difted and it all ran so smooth thanks to a load of commitment from the team and the utilization of tools like Basecamp and CODA.

But it’s not about the site development…it’s about supporting the heart…getting people help on the issues of addiction, depression, eating disorders, self injury and suicide. It’s about your story, my story. I hope that you all can get involved in some way, either by telling your story through a video or blog, spreading the word on the web, purchasing a tshirt (the gold foil is hot and special edishhh.) or by donating to the cause.

heartsupport - the “label of love” is now more than just a tee label. Enter: heartsupport - “Community based online help”, an idea spawned from the minds of Jon Bell, Craig Gross and myself. I can’t wait for the launch, in fact, I should be finishing the site instead of writing this post, but here’s a short rundown anyway. Read the rest of this page »

The last time I ventured back to Oklahoma I got a little lesson in screenprinting from my pals Caleb and Jacob. Here’s the footage in 2 minutes. Enjoi!

Keep Calm

Taken from this WWII poster. The “Keep Calm” slogan has proven itself effective several times this week as it stares through the open apps. and windows on my desktop. Download - “Keep Calm”

I plan to offer up a different desktop weekly, it may be a photograph or something created in Illustrator. It’s a way for me to push myself creatively in the areas of photography and illustration and in return get constructive criticism from whomever reads here. So please enjoy the desktops, they will be offered up at 2560×1600 resolution, big enough for a 30″ display. Read the rest of this page »
