KIVA

I’ve started a lending team on Kiva.org, a non-profit website that allows you to lend as little as $25 to a specific low-income entrepreneur in the developing world. You choose who to lend to - whether a baker in Afghanistan, a goat herder in Uganda, a farmer in Peru, a restaurateur in Cambodia, or a tailor in Iraq - and as they repay the loan, you get your money back.

WHY?

I’ve had the privilege to travel, film and work with micro finance groups like Turame in Burundi, Africa and social justice groups like Faceless International in Kolkata, India. I’ve seen people in poverty first hand and I’ve seen what micro finance groups like Kiva can do for them, not just money to get by, but the trust, responsibility and most of all self worth that these programs instill in the people who receive the loans. So, I started this group to continue the giving back to these types of programs. Join Team El Clinto!

PROOF

Below is a film my friend Sam and I shot for Turame - a micro finance group in Burundi, Africa. It’s a good first hand look at how micro finance loans work and help. Check it out.
